CHIDI ODINKALU
Professor of Practice in International Human Rights Law and CO-Director of LLM Program
- Chairs the Truth, Justice, and Peace Commission, a transitional justice initiative established to address the crises of violence and agitation in the states of south-east Nigeria.
- He previously chaired Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission and served on the panel of eminent persons that negotiated the return of The Gambia to the Commonwealth in 2017.
- Odinkalu has acted as counsel in international human rights litigation before Africa’s regional human rights courts and tribunals and was involved in the creation of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
TOM DANNENBAUM
Associate Professor of International Law, Co-Director of LLM Program, and Co-Director of the Center for International Law & Governance
- Writes on the law of armed conflict, the law governing the use of force, international criminal law, human rights, shared responsibility, and international judging.
- His articles have appeared in a range of leading journals and have received multiple awards, including the American Society of International Law’s (ASIL) International Legal Theory Scholarship Prize in 2022 for his work on siege starvation, and ASIL’s Lieber Prize in 2017 for his work on the crime of aggression.
- His writing on peacekeeping has been cited by the Hague Court of Appeal and the International Law Commission.
PHOTINI PAZARTZIS
Constantine G. Karamanlis Chair of Hellenic and European Studies
- Member of UN Human Rights Committee, the supervisory body of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (2015-2022), serving as its Vice-Chair (2019-2021) and Chair (2021-2022).
- Professor Pazartzis has served as adviser for the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was a member of the Greek delegation to the Sixth Committee of the UN for a number of years, was member of the OSCE Court of Conciliation and Arbitration, and has recently been appointed as expert for the Moscow Mechanism of the OSCE.
- Professor Pazartzis was a member of the Board of the European Society of International Law and served as President of the Society (2019-2021). She was President of the Hellenic Branch of the International Law Association, and Co-Chair of the ILA Study Group on The Content and Evolution of the Rules of Interpretation (2015-2020, with Professor Geir Ulfstein).
- Her areas of interest are public international law, settlement of disputes, international adjudication and procedure, law of the sea, human rights law and international criminal law.
